Your legislator a TV star?

A special state legislative committee wants to start televising House sessions and selected committee meetings. The sessions wouldn’t be broadcast over the air or on cable or satellite. Instead, they could be seen on the General Assembly’s web page.

Up front cost would be about $1 million for high-end TV cameras and such. And operating costs would be hundreds of thousands a year.

You can already get streaming audio of House and Senate sessions along with certain committee meetings over the General Assembly’s web page.

By the way, don’t call your Internet provider if you hear a lot of background noise on your streaming video broadcast of House sessions. That’s really chatter in the background of House members not paying attention.
