Legislative Republican leaders are calling for an “aggressive education agenda” during the 2009 session of the General Assembly.
Specifically, they’re proposing that the state:
– Require the use of tational testing to provide consistency in measuring academic progress.
– Reward the state’s best teachers with merit and differential pay rather than the current pay system based on longevity and credentials.
– Enhance career, technical and vocation programs in high schools.
– Eliminate the cap on charter schools in North Carolina.
