Senate to leave Friday; House coming back next week

The House and Senate are well into shutdown mode. The Senate plans to finish its work on Friday. The House will likely come back a couple days next week. Then, presiding officers in both chambers will complete the necessary paperwork, likely on Tuesday.

The adjournment resolution calls for the short session to start on May 12, 2010.

Not all bills will be eligible when lawmakers return next year. Primarily, only budget and finance bills, proposed amendments to the N.C. Constitution, bills coming out of interim study committees, noncontroversial local bills and bills that have already passed one chamber this year.
