It’s back to work time after taking some days off for the holidays. That means I’ve got some catching up to do.
This just came out today from the GOP Senate leadership office. Two veteran Republican senators, Bob Rucho of Mecklenburg County and Fletcher Hartsell of Cabarrus County, will chair the Senate Finance Committee. The presumptive Senate president pro-tem, Sen. Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, announced the appointment Monday.
“Sens. Rucho and Hartsell are both capable, experienced legislators ready to lead the Senate Finance Committee with a clear vision of putting our state’s economy back on firm footing,” Berger said in a prepared statement.
“Ensuring that we have a tax system in place that encourages growth in the private sector and does not antagonize businesses who want to find a home in North Carolina is our No. 1 priority,” Rucho said.
Said Hartsell: “If we are going to get our economy moving in the right direction once again and awaken job creation efforts in the private sector, we have to improve our state’s business climate.”
